Marina González Magaña

Marina González Magaña is Senior Program Manager of the Crime and Justice Policy Lab at the University of Pennsylvania where she works with cities in the U.S. and Latin America to reduce violence and incarceration while building trust between government and communities. Previously, Marina served as Policy and Implementation Manager at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), where she led an initiative to build effective, resilient, and trusted police organizations in Mexico, in collaboration with Yale University. In that role, she oversaw the adaptation and implementation of strategies such as Focused Deterrence of Violence, Procedural Justice, and the National Model of Citizen Security. Marina also has experience in crime prevention through environmental design and community-based participatory models. She is an Open Government Fellow of the Organization of American States and a facilitator in transformative leadership at the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Marina holds a master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Glasgow, funded by the UK Chevening Scholarship, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Management from ITESO University.
