Carolyn Coles

Carolyn is the Data & Intelligence Implementation Specialist for the Crime and Justice Policy Lab. Her work focuses on expanding the Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS) with fidelity by continuing to build a cohesive implementation plan of internal reform and broad dissemination throughout the Baltimore Police Department’s districts.  She has previously worked with the Los Angeles Police Department, Anaheim Police Department, and Denver Police Department on matters regarding police training and evaluation.

Carolyn has a PhD in Criminology, Law & Society from the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on the implementation science of evidence-based policing initiatives and quantitative evaluation of officer behavioral outcomes. She earned a MA in International and Intercultural Communication from the University of Denver and a BS in Marketing from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Before joining the CJP Lab, Carolyn worked for the City of Redwood City in California, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and Equity Labs in Colorado.
