Hyeong-geun Choe is a doctoral student in the Department of Criminology. His research interests lie in the effectiveness of place-based policy to improve public safety. He is currently involved in studies regarding gun violence and marijuana legalization. He graduated from Kyonggi University, South Korea, holding a bachelor’s degree in police science and a master’s degree in Criminology. Prior to joining Penn, he worked on a project called Police Scientific Technology Needs Assessment as a research assistant. He has published in Korea on fear of crime among single-person households and crime increase perception caused by the influx of immigrants.
